A man walks into a Silicon Valley pet store looking to buy a monkey. The store owner points toward three identical monkeys in politically-correct, animal-friendly natural mini-habitats.
한 남자가 원숭이를 한 마리 사려고 실리콘 밸리의 애완 동물 가게로 들어간다. 가게 주인은 정치적으로 공정하고 친 동물적이고 자연스러운 작은 거주지에 있는 세 마리의 똑같이 생긴 원숭이를 가리킨다.
"The one on the left cost $500," says the store owner."Why so much?" asks the customer. "Because it can program in C," answers the store owner.
"왼쪽에 있는 건 500달러입니다." 주인이 말한다.
"뭐가 그리 비싸요?" 손님이 묻는다.
"C를 짤 줄 알거든요." 주인이 답한다.
The customer inquires about the next monkey and is told, "that one cost $1500, because it knows Visual C++ and Object-Relational technology."
손님이 다음 원숭이 가격을 묻자 주인 왈,
"그 녀석은 1500달러입죠. 비주얼 C++도 알고 객체-관계 기술도 알거든요."
The startled man then asks about the third monkey.
놀라워하던 손님이 세 번째 원숭이에 대해 묻는다.
"That one costs $3000," answers the store owner.
"그 녀석은 3000달러입니다요." 주인이 답한다.
"3000 dollars!!" exclaims the man. "What can that one do?"
"3000달러라고요!" 손님이 외친다. "대체 뭘 할 수 있는데요?"
To which the owner replies, "To be honest, I've never seen it do a single thing, but it calls itself a Consultant."
이 말에 주인이 대답한다.
"솔직히 말해서, 저도 저 녀석이 뭔가 하는 건 본 적이 없습니다. 다만 자칭 컨설턴트라고 하던데요."
